How to Obtain a Passport? Required Documents for Passport Application in 2022

Passports are essential IDs required for traveling abroad from our home countries. The IDs we use domestically are often not valid in most other countries. Passports are a must for international travel.

Getting a passport can be a cumbersome process for some of us. Residents of Istanbul can make this process more comfortable by renting a car in Istanbul. The first thing you need to do before traveling abroad is to obtain a passport, for which you must first make an appointment with the relevant government office.

Passport Appointment Procedures

To obtain a passport, you must first schedule an appointment with the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs. You can make your appointment through ALO 189 and the directorate's website.

When scheduling an appointment through the website of the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, you will notice that there are three different types of passports. Although the burgundy passport is usually obtained, it is useful to explain all types:

Ordinary Passport (Burgundy): The burgundy passport is a type that any Turkish citizen of age can obtain. It consists of 38 pages where visas, and entry and exit stamps of countries are affixed.

Service Passport (Gray): This type of passport is issued to government officials who will serve abroad on behalf of the state. It can be issued by special administrations and municipalities.

Special Passport (Green): This passport can be issued to government employees and their relatives under certain conditions.

This way, you not only reach your plane more comfortably but also save on hefty parking fees.
